Be at the heart of enabling customers prepare for the future

From insuring their first car to saving for retirement, within Insurance, Pensions and Investments, we support customers through the moments that matter most to them. We put them at the heart of every decision we make. And we're committed to delivering market-leading solutions that meet their individual needs and increase their financial wellbeing, so they’re prepared for whatever the future brings.

Today, of course, 'market-leading' means more than simply charging the lowest premium or offering the highest return on investment. Every bit as important to us – and our customers – is that our products and propositions are ethical, sustainable and delivered in a responsible way. That’s why we’ve set ourselves the ambitious goals of reducing the carbon emissions we finance by more than 50% by 2030 and becoming a net zero business by 2050.

By being a champion of our ambitions, by looking at the business through fresh eyes and by challenging the way we do things, you’ll have a big part to play in helping us deliver our strategy when you join us on this programme.

Is our Sustainable Financial Wellbeing Graduate Scheme for you?

Graduates on this scheme work within our Insurance, Pensions and Investments division, to help solve some of the biggest challenges faced by society: an aging and underinsured population; low confidence in managing money and making financial decisions; the transfer of wealth between generations; and climate change.

If you're naturally inquisitive, have an interest in business, finance and data, and are excited by the opportunity to help ensure customers are resilient for whatever their future holds, this could be the scheme for you.

Challenging the status quo is a big part of what we expect of our graduates. So two things you'll need are strong critical-thinking skills and an open mind. Humility and resilience are equally important. And because this is an area of the business that's all about people, you’ll need to enjoy collaborating, seeing things from other perspectives and building strong relationships.

What you'll learn on the sustainable financial wellbeing graduate scheme

Over two years, you’ll complete three eight-month placements in three of the following areas. On each, you’ll work with a different team to develop your skills and experience.

Customer

Customers are at the heart of everything we do. Learning how we deliver the highest standards of service will give you a strong base understanding of our business and, more importantly, our customers. You will develop an insight into Insurance, Pensions and Investments’ customers, their needs, and the products and services we provide.

Platform

By bringing business and technology closer together, our multiskilled Platform teams are vital to the success of our business. Working within one of these teams, you’ll develop an understanding of our products and propositions, end-to-end customer journeys and how we are managing change more quickly and effectively, so we can deliver even more brilliant outcomes for our customers.

Products & propositions

We have a strong heritage helping our customers every day with their diverse and critical needs, including life insurance, pensions, general insurance (home and car) and investments. Our aim is to offer customers ethical investment choices and challenge the companies we invest in to behave more sustainably and responsibly. Here you will build your expert knowledge of our various products and propositions and an understanding of how our offering is contributing to the Group’s overall strategy.

Commercial, strategy & relationship management

We have many routes to market including Independent Financial Advisors, selling directly to our customers and through our own branches. We also have a strong Workplace proposition, with pensions and investments that companies can offer to their staff. In this team, you will build your knowledge of the industry and our competitors. You’ll work to develop relationships with key stakeholders and understand why this is fundamental to delivering our strategy.
